What we do

Six ways we help Hamilton gardens look their best. Sit back and watch, or tap any tab to jump straight there.

Residential

We partner with homeowners across Hamilton to design, build, and maintain gardens that suit each property, lifestyle, and budget: from a full landscape transformation to an ongoing maintenance programme that delivers results, year-round.

Commercial

We work with commercial clients to create and maintain outdoor spaces that reflect the quality of their business: tidy, considered, and consistently well-kept. Whether it's a set-and-forget maintenance contract, or a full landscaping project, we deliver results you'll be proud to put your name to.

Design

Our focus is on design that is beautiful, functional, and right for your land. Whether you need an on-the-fly plan, or a fully drafted, to-scale design, our team will work closely with you to get it right.

Maintenance

Reliable, tailored care for your individual needs – fortnightly, monthly, or as needed. We handle lawns, garden beds, hedges, gutters, herbicide and fertiliser applications, tree care, mulching, and mould treatments. Whatever your goals, we'll build a maintenance schedule that works for you.

Paving

We install structural elements such as paving, garden edging and delineation in timber or metal, raised planters, feature pots, and hardscaping elements designed to anchor the space and work beautifully with surrounding planting.

Fencing & Retaining

We offer uncapped, fully capped, and espalier fencing alongside retaining walls in H4 timber, punga, and stone – solid, well-finished structures, built to last.

Our process

Connect

We start with a free, no-obligation site visit, walking the section together, hearing what you're after, and talking honestly about what's possible.

Plan

You'll get a clear, written quote you can actually understand. Need a full design? We'll draw it to scale so you know exactly what you're getting.

Build

This is where it comes together — on time, tidy, and done properly. For bigger jobs, we keep you in the loop as things take shape.

Care

Every job is backed 100%. If you'd like ongoing care, we'll set up a maintenance plan that keeps things looking sharp, season after season.

Our story

William's Gardens was founded in 2020 by William Belfield, a Kirikiriroa-based landscaper with a genuine love of plants, outdoor spaces, and the people who live in them.

He's since built that into a trusted team, offering everything from weekly grounds maintenance through to full landscape design and transformation.

We work across the greater Hamilton area with a simple philosophy — do the job properly, treat each property with respect, and always act in our client's best interests. That means honest advice, realistic quotes, and work we're proud to put our name on.

We're not the kind of business that upsells you on things you don't need. If a simpler solution will serve you better, we'll tell you. If a project needs specialist input, we bring it in. What we offer is a team that genuinely cares about getting the best possible outcome for you and your garden.

All of our work is 100% guaranteed. If you're not completely satisfied, we'll make it right.

William is passionate and knowledgeable about what he does, he treats the garden like it is his own and is dedicated to committing to the most ideal outcomes for you. Tailor makes the garden experience and it is great supporting local businesses.
Courtney and Tua
William was very thorough with the work he did on tidying up an elderly friend's garden, ready for the property to go on the market. He had lots of good ideas of what to do and how to get the best effect for the least outlay incl re-using existing materials (which was also a great saving). Highly recommend him.
Jacqui
What an amazing job! I had a rental property in need of a major garden spruce up. William went over and above any expectations I had. I will certainly be using him again and can highly recommend him to others.
Donna
Thank you so much for the beautiful job you have done for us! I've forgotten how good it looks when done professionally. The only thing I'm sad about, is that I didn't get to tell you in person! Thanks for the excellent service.
Alvira
An excellent service. Very prompt, thorough, and easy to deal with. I highly recommend William's Gardens service.
Christina
William was very very helpful and kind. He gave me advice on a problem that he can take care of for me and I was really happy with that.

FAQ

Straight answers to the questions we get most.

Do you offer free quotes?

Yes. Site visits and quotes are free, with no obligation. We'll tell you honestly if a simpler option is the better spend.

What areas do you cover?

We're based in Kirikiriroa, Hamilton and cover the city suburbs plus nearby Waikato towns: Cambridge, Te Awamutu, Ngāruawāhia, Morrinsville, Matangi, Tamahere, and similar. Further out is often fine; ask if you're unsure.

How much does landscaping cost in Hamilton?

It really depends on scope: a tidy-up or planting refresh might be a few hundred dollars, while a full landscape transformation can run into the tens of thousands. We always provide a clear, itemised quote after an on-site visit, so you know exactly what you're paying for before any work begins.

Can you do design and build?

Yes. We handle design (with landscape architecture support when needed), installation, and ongoing maintenance, so the same team that draws the plan is the one that builds it.

How long does a typical project take?

Smaller maintenance visits are usually done within a day. Full landscaping projects (design, earthworks, planting, hardscaping) typically take one to six weeks depending on size and weather. We'll give you a realistic timeframe as part of your quote.

Do you offer ongoing maintenance, or just one-off jobs?

Both. Plenty of our work is one-off, such as a makeover, a new fence, or a planting refresh, but we also run fortnightly and monthly maintenance plans for clients who want their garden looked after year-round without lifting a finger.

Do I need council consent for fencing or retaining walls?

Sometimes. Most planting and general landscaping doesn't need consent, but taller fences, retaining walls over a certain height, or work near boundaries can require Hamilton City Council sign-off. We'll flag anything that needs consent as part of your quote, so there are no surprises.

Is your work guaranteed?

All work is 100% guaranteed. If you're not satisfied, we'll make it right.
